Touch screen control technology
Stertil-Koni has incorporated the advanced, full-color,
touch-screen control console, known as the eBright
Smart Control System – into the company’s shallow, fullrise,
axle-engaging in-ground scissor-lifting system, the
ECOLIFT. The enhanced ebright Smart Control System
provides intuitive ease-of-use with maximum visual
information about the entire lifting process, according
to the company. The eBright offers the intuitive features
of a smartphone or a tablet via a7-inch, full-color touchscreen
control system. Users cantrack specific operations
and data while the lift is in motion. As a result, fleet
maintenance managers can see in real-time how the
lifts are being used, observe warning and service alerts
and monitor the lift’s motor run timer. From a broader
perspective, the ebright Smart Control System is an
extension of the concept of human-machine-interface
(HMI), providing greater control of the vehicle lift in a
very familiar, electronic notepad-style delivery system,
the company says. The ECOLIFT is the industry’s original
ultra-shallow, full-rise axle-engaging in-ground scissor
lift. The lift is available in both a two-scissor or three-scissor
configuration, total lifting capacity is 60,000 lbs. and
90,000 lbs. respectively – at 30,000 lbs. per scissor.

Quickly identify a hot wheel
The Wheel-Check (from company Wheel-Check) is
a loose wheel-nut indicator that can identify a loose
wheel nut with a simple visual inspection. When the
wheel nuts are properly torqued to specs,
the Wheel-Checks are then placed on
the wheel nuts in a uniformed
pattern. Once a
wheel-nut has
loosened, the
Wheel-Check
will become out of
sequence. It will be visible
when the driver does his or her walk
around. Wheel-Check’s can also quickly
identify a hot wheel possibly caused by bearing failure
or brake drag. Wheel-Checks are also heat sensitive. If
there is a binding brake or seized bearing, the heat is
transferred through the stud and nut. Once the temperature
exceeds 120º C (248º F), Wheel-Check will start
to blister around the circumference and eventually start
to distort. A wheel bearing failure can have grave consequences
if it occurs while driving at highway speeds and
the vehicle loses a wheel. This is why the wheel bearings
should always be inspected. A driver will be required to
go to maintenance and have a thorough assessment on
the problem wheel. Additional benefits to using Wheel-
Checks include providing a simple, visual means of confirming
proper wheel torque in seconds; lowering maintenance
costs by eliminating unnecessary re-torquing;
costs only a few dollars per wheel; and facilitates official
roadside inspections. Available in 17+ custom sizes and
color upon request.
