American Dealer Group (ADG) Meeting GRAPH EXPO 16 The American Dealer Group (ADG) will be convening tomorrow at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) for their product development meeting. ADG is an incorporated group of local independent printing equipment and supply dealers serving the graphics imaging industry. ADG members operate as solution providers in all phases of production: digital presses, direct imaging, offset presses, bindery and fi nishing operations, as well as all of their related consumable products. ADG meets several times a year, and routinely at GRAPH EXPO. This year’s meeting is a closed-door event for members only, and vendor presentations at this event are invite-only. Ironmark Expands Business and Capabilities with Ricoh Expand Your Domain in the Graphic Communications Market with Konica Minolta Konica Minolta (Booth 1801) is expanding its domain in the Graphic Communications market with exciting new products and services that help the GC professional The AccurioJet KM-1 represents Konica Minolta’s fl agship entry into the high-quality, UV inkjet marketplace. grow revenues, contain costs, and improve overall productivity. These offerings provide new productivity levels to the packaging/labeling, print enhancement, and prototyping/short run manufacturing marketplaces. The AccurioJet KM-1 represents Konica Minolta’s fl agship entry into the high-quality, UV inkjet marketplace. Using 23x29.5" offset substrates up to 24 points (.6mm) thick, delivered at 3000 4/0 sheets per hour, the AccurioJet KM-1 sets a new standard for variable, cut sheet productivity. At this size, 6-up 8.5x11" imposition is possible, making the AccurioJet KM-1 50% more productive than the rest of the market. The short run digital labeling market is an emerging opportunity for label converters and Graphic Communications providers alike. The Konica Minolta bizhub PRESS C71cf is the fi rst continuous feed, toner based, UV-safe label printer of it’s kind. Printing at speeds up to 62 ft/min on rolls nearly 13" wide. Producing labels is more complex than just the print hardware, so Konica Minolta is spotlighting three supporting technologies. • EngageIT iLabel will allow operators to set-up and produce short runs with an easy to use interface. • The Spartanics E-Cut S330 provides both semi-rotary die cutting and laser options to provide ultimate fl exibility in a cost effective platform. The S330 easily sets up and changes over jobs to help get jobs out the door quickly. • The MGI JETvarnish 3DW delivers exceptional print enhancement value to the label market. The JETvarnish 3DW allows label printers to go digital for Spot UV Coating and Embossed Hot Foiling without dies, screens or expensive tooling on narrow webs up to 420 mm/16.53". In addition to the MGI JV3DS small format system, Konica Minolta will present the MGI JetVarnish 3D Evolution. The MGI JETvarnish 3D Evo delivers high-volume productivity with up to 4,065 B2 sheets size per hour. Its 8-up format (29x47") delivers extra added-value and sensory dimensional textures to printed output. The 100% digital technology provides quick prototyping, short run customization fl exibility, and the ability to use variable data for personalizing text and graphics on every piece produced. The prototyping and short run manufacturing markets have grown by the use of 3D printing. However, for many, the challenges to producing quality 3D products have moved some to give up or limit their use. Ironmark expanded its capabilities to include on-demand book printing, a key development following its acquisition of United Book Press. Ironmark embraced this new aspect of its business by adding Ricoh’s (Booth 2035) InfoPrint 5000 MP continuous feed monochrome inkjet system and Ricoh TotalFlow Batch- Builder workfl ow management software. Ironmark is now able to make printing short-run book orders quick and simple, while allocating resources effi ciently to avoid the waste, cumbersome processes, and production disruptions often associated with conventional offset printing. While Ricoh’s InfoPrint 5000 adds quick turnaround, capacity, and quality, RICOH TotalFlow BatchBuilder enables market confi dence through intelligent “batching” of jobs. This is done based on a variety of selectable criteria, helping to ensure jobs move from entry to imposition to production to fi nishing seamlessly. For example by batching small jobs that need the same roll of paper they can be produced one after the other, without leaving a small amount of paper left on the roll or needing to have rolls changed between jobs. “When we acquired United Book Press, we knew we wanted to expand that wellknown brand to include shorter runs. We knew that process can be diffi cult to implement and execute, but by leveraging Ricoh’s expertise, we were successful at every stage,” says Jeff Ostenso, CEO of Ironmark. “While Ricoh’s software and hardware are making short runs easier, what’s really made the difference is the Ricoh team. It’s clear that they are dedicated to helping move forward the Ironmark legacy of transformation and fi nding ways to stay on the cutting edge.” The United Book Press acquisition is the latest in a series of moves by Ironmark, which relocated and rebranded in 2014. Starting in 1955 as Frank Gumpert Printing, the company’s acquisitions began in 2004, including the acquisitions of Imagemark and Norwood Creative to expand its business into the promotional product and creative services spaces. The company’s transformation included rebranding itself as Ironmark in 2014, as it moved its headquarters to Howard County, MD. “Ironmark has made it clear, especially over the past decade, that it always has its eyes on what the market is doing, what its customers want, and how they can better address those demands,” says Andre Brazeau, Vice President of Production Print Solutions, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “At Ricoh, that customer-fi rst, adaptive mentality isn’t just familiar—it’s exactly who we are. As a result, this partnership could not have been a better match. As Ironmark expands into the short-run book printing business, we are proud to be beside them, helping make the transition as effective, effi cient—and revenue generating—for them as possible.” 60 | September 25, 2016 | GRAPH EXPO 16 Offi cial Show Daily | PrintingNews.com
