Testing the solution Before distributing the Connectors to their clients, ProGraphics performed extensive testing of the solution. As Dan Still, Director of Workfl ow Automation at ProGraphics notes, “We tested every conceivable fi le and fi le issue that you could imagine—including bleed/no bleed, RGB images that need to be converted to CMYK, spot colors that need to be converted to CMYK, and all color profi les. And every single time, Connect ALL did the job. Connect ALL fi xed it!” Solving problems before they start After this testing period, ProGraphics rolled out Connect ALL to their clients and began an aggressive promotion to get clients using it. As Still says, “In the past, it took a great deal of time and work for clients to create, prepare, and send fi les to us. And when there was a change—as there often was—the process would need to start all over again. Now, using the Connector, the client simply exports the fi les from InDesign, views the prefl ight report as a proof, signs off, sends it over, and fi les are usually sitting at the press in four to fi ve minutes.” Moreover, last minute changes can be easily accommodated—the client just makes the changes to the fi le, exports it to the Connector, and sends the fi le with a note to disregard the previous fi le.
