Product Spotlight Online PDF & 3D Viewing The PDF standard format is intended to retain the creator’s accuracy of reproduction and context; but apart from some desktop applications, none of the PDF readers on the market follow that standard completely. This means that PDFs don’t always display the way the creator intended, especially in a mobile world. This results in delays, mistakes, and ineffi ciencies. CHILI publish’s (Booth 2266) rendro changes this paradigm. Thanks to strict compliance with ISO standards, CHILI rendro gives the most meticulous rendering, streaming, and 3D-viewing of PDF onto any platform that supports the HTML5 canvas. Workfl ow Software This new end-to-end JDF-based integration between EFI (Booth 1349) and Esko allows packaging converters to streamline workfl ows. The integration includes processes from acquiring orders, creating jobs, and scheduling; to prepress, to production, and back to the ERP for accurate costing, effi cient scheduling with minimum touchpoints. The workfl ow starts with EFI Packaging Suite’s Radius ERP that dynamically generates a job ticket with prepress instructions. These can then be automatically processed by Esko Automation Engine, which releases processed jobs to EFI Fiery servers. Additional production instructions that were included in the original job ticket are also passed through to Fiery Driven press. Finally, the bi-direction communication allows Esko Automation Engine operators to see the status of production, and Radius operators to retrieve production data and status to update costing and scheduling. The integration facilitates adoption of high-speed inkjet technology for packaging converters, and allows users of the EFI Packaging Suite and Esko Automation Engine to transition to hybrid environments. It takes advantage of digital presses driven by EFI Fiery technology for applications such as processing short runs with more versions and proofi ng jobs more cost effectively, while using shared, rules-based routing workfl ows with existing analog presses. Inserting System BÖWE SYSTEC’s (Booth 2207) inserting system, Fusion Cross, continues to enhance its capabilities. On display is the Fusion Cross solution, processing continuous forms for Flats and letter formats all with fully automated changeover. Three additional enclosure options expand Fusion Cross’ Single Machine Type Strategy capabilities as the most fl exible high speed inserter on the market. A new Rotary feeder capable of processing a thickness of up to 8 mm is available, along with Pre-stacking and an Autoloader option to allow operators to keep pace with the high speeds that Fusion Cross has demonstrated while running thick policy and brokerage type booklets. The Recipe driven operating system, Cockpit, has proven to be a powerful platform for creating and processing complex jobs with ease. A wizard with graphic based set-up screens guides an operator through all aspects of an application and reduces training to a minimum. Inkjet Printer Riso (Booth 1248) will be showcasing its ComColor GD Series high-speed, full-color inkjet printer, which delivers up to 160 pages per minute A3/Ledger with 600 dpi resolution for black and 300 dpi for color. The machine comes with an embedded GDI, or an optional production RIP equipped with a Fiery digital front end developed by EFI, to deliver high-speed data processing to large-volume, complex document data. Newly-formulated ink offers high density black and vibrant colors. Digital Sheetfed Press The HP (Booth 1825) Indigo 7900 Digital Press is the market-leading digital sheetfed press, offering high performance, superior print quality, simplifi ed color matching, and an expanded application range. The 13x19” HP Indigo 7900 Digital Press prints in color at up to 160 ppm for more than fi ve million color pages every month. Its on-press production assistant saves print service providers (PSPs) time and money by ensuring non-stop, correct printing. The HP Indigo 7900 Digital Press uses advanced software and hardware to produce perfect color uniformity and tailored print quality modes. Automated color management tools— including the press’s inline spectrophotometer— help meet strict color standards, and achieve color accuracy and consistency across Indigo presses, sites, and time, as well as between Indigo and offset. Expanding the application range, on-press priming enables printing on virtually any paper, including offset stock and specialty papers, and One Shot technology further extends the press’s media options to include canvas, synthetic, lenticular, dark, and metalized media. The press also supports special effects and unique inks, such as HP Indigo ElectroInk White for high-impact invitations, greeting cards, and photo albums; and HP Indigo ElectroInk Fluorescent Pink, which stands out for premium pages and glow-in-the-dark effects Controllers Baumer hhs (Booth 1026) is highlighting its Xtend3 system. It features multi-touch technology for the most modern and user-friendly interface available in the market. It automatically detects and communicates with the components connected to it. A comprehensive range of statistics is collected for analysis, and networking the system allows remote troubleshooting. 3D Services Web Portal The EngageIT 3D Services Web portal from Konica Minolta (Booth 1801) allows print service providers (PSPs) to offer 3D printing services with no expertise or fi nancial investment. The site is designed to simplify the process of 3D printing. PSPs can upload their clients’ 3D design fi les as well as 2D assets like jpegs, blueprints, and renderings. The Website will generate a quote. The PSP accepts the quote and pays via credit card. After payment is processed, a 3D digital model is created for approval. After approval a 3D model is printed and shipped to the PSP. Folder Morgana Systems (Booth 2434) is releasing the DigiFold Pro 385. One of the key changes from previous models is the introduction of a high-capacity vacuum top-feeder that can take a sheet pile of 17.5". Once the size and thickness of stock are entered, all other feeder functions–including air and vacuum settings, side guide positions, and fold roller gaps–are automatically adjusted for quick and easy setup of jobs. Stock of up to 0.015" (approx. 150 pounds) can be creased and folded with virtually no cracking of the sheets or the toner on them. Wide-Format Printer Making its GRAPH EXPO debut is the is the OKI (Booth 1001) ColorPainter M-64s wide-format printer which delivers rich, glossy output for indoor and outdoor applications at unrivaled speed. The industrial printheads, innovative ink, and advanced print technologies provide customers unique advantages in terms of ink cost savings and time savings, providing opportunities to easily upgrade business capabilities and increase profi ts. Its robust, industrial build and easy operation make the ColorPainter M-64s a smart investment for any professional graphics print environment. Editing and Color Correction Software EFI’s (Booth 1349) Fiery interactive technology for increased gamut usage provides an expanded WYSIWYG color correction and image-editing interface for extended gamut applications. With more and more presses (cut-sheet toner, wide- and superwide format inkjet, and high-speed inkjet) offering capabilities beyond CMYK, there is a need for early-stage color mode selection and late-stage color editing capabilities that help best utilize the extended gamut of these presses. This new Fiery technology delivers a fully interactive tool to visualize the utilization of a printer’s gamut, optionally with different inks or media, for a given source input. 44 | September 26, 2016 | GRAPH EXPO 16 Offi cial Show Daily | PrintingNews.com
