Product Spotlight Inventory App The Midnight Inventory App from Virtual Systems (Booth 1690) lets a user manage inventory with the palm of their hand. Allowing the user to receive inventory into the system, move inventory to a new location, and pull inventory, all using the built in barcode scanning technology. Additionally a user can take pictures of the inventory and attache it to the the item directly through the app. Press with 5th Station The Xerox (Booth 1625) iGen 5 is the next-generation platform of the iGen Digital Press family with offerings at 90ppm, 120ppm, and 150ppm. The press features an optional fi fth color unit, which increases the ability to match a larger gamut of Pantone colors or add specialty effects using new Clear Dry Ink. With the addition of Clear Dry Ink, users can take advantage of unique effects to transform, personalize, and enhance ordinary printed pieces. Orange, green, or blue options supplement CMYK and can accurately hit distinctive colors without moving short runs to offset. Web-to-Print, Marketing Asset Management MarcomCentral (Booth 1973) is a vendor-hosted (SaaS) Web-to-print system that provides ultra-customized automated work fl ows and intelligent Marketing Asset Management features. PSPs can offer clients a customized Web-based portal for creating, printing, and managing the delivery of static, versioned, and variable cross-media pieces while maintaining corporate branding and compliance guidelines through pre-approved templates. MarcomCentral recently introduced new integrations and capabilities that refl ect evolving market demands. The newest integration with Lumentus Social allows printers to dive much deeper into their corporate customers’ needs beyond just print, offering fl exibility and control over their company wide social media strategy. Slitter, Cutter, Creaser The DC-746 Slitter/Cutter/Creaser from Duplo (Booth 2025) is the ideal companion for digital printers with medium to high production jobs. It offers new features including optional rotary tool and cross perforating modules, both with strike-perforating capabilities, for increased versatility and a job template library for common applications. It also features a waste conveyor that transports the waste into an external bin. Finishing Workfl ow The C.P. Bourg (Booth 1325) Sheet Preparation Module (BPM) is a fully automated, modular, and scalable inline sheet converting unit that automatically processes multiple up printed pages from very large parent size sheets (up to 23.6x14.6") down to individual book pages (as small as 5.5x4.7") in a single pass. The post-processed sheets or signatures are then fed downstream into the desired attached perfect binder or booklet maker without human intervention. This process eliminates costly labor steps, greatly reduces printing costs (click or image charges) by utilizing large sheets imaged with multiple up paginated book or booklet pages, and eradicates waste and operator errors since the entire system is running in process control by the attached marking engine or bar code reader equipped sheet feeder. The entire system operates “in-line” when attached to a marking engine, “offline” when not coupled to a marking engine, or in “dual mode” when a Bourg Sheet Feeder (BSF) is docked between the printer and the BPM, allowing the attached “in-line” fi nishing solution to also operate “off-line” through the insertion of pre-collated sheets into the sheet feeder via high capacity stacker carts or pallets. Digital Color Duplex Press The 42" HP (Booth 1825) PageWide Web Press T490 HD is the industry’s most productive digital color duplex press, delivering up to 1,000 feet per minute (fpm) in performance mode, a 67% speed increase, and 500 fpm in quality mode. Its monochrome variant, the HP PageWide Web Press T490M HD, offers high-volume trade book manufacturers equivalent offset-class digital monochrome productivity. Additionally, the HP PageWide Web Presses T470 HD and T480 HD now offer 500 fpm in quality mode, a 25% increase since introduction. Digital Sheet-fed Press The MGI (Booth 2149) JETvarnish 3D Evolution features 2D spot UV coating, 3D dimensional coating, and embossed variable data foiling with a modular and upgradeable inkjet expansion architecture. It is designed to produce 2D/3D dimensional varnish textures and foil special effects on sheets printed via offset, fl exo, and digital presses. Foil can be applied on coated & uncoated papers, synthetic & plastic substrates, laminated fi lms, and aqueous coated surfaces. Digital Front End Platform EFI (Booth 1349) introduced the new Fiery XB DFE platform for ultra high-speed inkjet presses. The new Fiery XB platform will power the next generation of ultra high-speed inkjet presses from Landa, Xerox, Canon, and EFI. It can drive these presses at speeds of 100 meters per minute of 1.8M wide corrugated boards; or in excess of 13,000 B1 sheets per hour, the equivalent of roughly 173 cut-sheet toner engines printing simultaneously at 100 pages per minute. The new Fiery XB platform supports requirements beyond four-color CMYK for B1 commercial and packaging applications with a scalable extended color gamut and near-offset image quality for a variety of different presses. Users can manage up to seven-color applications, plus specialty colors and applications such as white ink or MICR ink. Automate Job Processing EFI (Booth 1349) is showcasing the latest version of EFI Fiery JobFlow software, a product that brings a new level of job preparation automation to Fiery Driven environments for print operations of all sizes. By automating the manual job preparation steps required for the initial setup of a job into a workfl ow, Fiery JobFlow 2.2 gives print professionals the ability to submit and process similar jobs with a single click. Today, approximately 50% of brochures, business cards, and direct mail are manually prepared. These job types typically require prefl ighting, imposition, and a soft proof creation, and each of these steps can take about 15 minutes. Using Fiery JobFlow automated workfl ows can reduce the preparation time to 2 minutes or less per job. The increased productivity from using the software can deliver a payback time of under 3 months. Foam Swabs Swab-its’ (Booth 3053) foam swabs, 71-4501, are an industry standard for cleaning and maintaining wide-format printers. Unlike cotton swabs, Swab-its foam swabs are lint-free and easy to use. They offer a sturdy plastic handle and soft, foam mitt for removing excess ink from wiper blades, capping stations, and printer heads and dies. It is also available pre-saturated with 1 milliliter of 99% IPA. Automated Punching Rhin-O-Tuff (Booth 2201) is unveiling the world’s fi rst automated collating punch system, the Tornado Autopunch EX. It uses BDT Print Media’s advanced media handling technology to automatically feed, collate, punch, and deliver offset book stacks ready for binding in a single platform. Viewing Station GTI (Booth 2273) is demonstrating the EVS-4052 viewing station. It is an ISO 3664:2009 compliant viewing station that features a 40x52" viewing area, a metal table top and back wall to allow magnets to secure artwork, a fl oor stand that is height adjustable at set-up, a storage shelf, and casters. The EVS- 4052’s luminaire is positioned parallel to the viewing table and utilizes an asymmetrical lens design which directs light at an angle, ensuring consistent lighting on the work table and back wall of the viewing booth. Workfl ow Solution NewsWay-X is ProImage’s new generation scalable production workfl ow solution. Redesigned with latest technology to provide unmatched performance, it supports latest operating systems; based on HTML 5 it supports all mainstream browsers. The Java-free browser client provides full access to the system, and the integrated interface enables all departments to track and manage production. The users, based on privileges, can view production progress, workfl ow steps, pages, plates, 42 | September 27, 2016 | GRAPH EXPO 16 Offi cial Show Daily | PrintingNews.com
