MassTransitmag.com/12318091 MATA Offers Mobile Medical Clinic to Employees ▶ Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) recently partnered with HealthyHere, a mobile medical clinic, to provide annual physicals, primary care and follow-up care to its 485 team members. The mobile clinics are fully outfi tted, including a private area in the vehicle dedicated to physical exams and the equipment necessary for performing on-board lab work. MassTransitmag.com/12317328 Cummins Reveals Next- Generation X12 Coach Engine ▶ Cummins Inc. has unveiled the next-generation X12 Series engine, which provides up to 455 hp (339 kW) and up to 1700 lb-ft of torque (2305 N•m) available as low as 1000 rpm to improve drivability. The use of a rear gear train contributes to overall engine refi nement by reducing vibration and lowering noise by at least 1 dBA. MassTransitmag.com/12310911 Nova Bus THE PROTOCOL standardizes the design of the robotic off-board pantograph that connects the charging station to the bus, communications between the bus and the charger, and performance metrics of the overall system. Maintenance Program Produces One-Million-Mile Bus ▶ On March 29, 2017, a Metro Transit bus in St. Louis, Missouri, reached one million miles on the odometer on the original engine and without a mid-life overhaul. The bus, purchased and put into service in 2001, is a Gillig Phantom with a Cummins M11 engine. The bus is still in active service, recording more than 8,000 miles a month and 96,000 miles over the past year. Metro’s preventative maintenance program is internationally recognized for producing the highest level of vehicle reliability and effi ciency. MassTransitmag.com/12325639 Brampton Leads in Innovation with Electric Bus Demonstration Th e Canadian Urban Transit Research and Innovation Consortium (CUTRIC) has brought funding partners, research teams, technology tools and manufacturing stakeholders together with Brampton Transit to launch the Pan-Ontario Electric Bus Demonstration and Integration Trial. Th e city of Brampton has agreed to work with two Canadian transit vehicle manufacturers, New Flyer Industries and Nova Bus, and two charging station manufacturers, ABB Group and Siemens Canada, to deploy up to 10 electric buses and four overhead electric charging stations that plug into an open protocol known as the OppCharge protocol — fi rst jointly developed by Siemens and Volvo Bus Corp.
