New Amenities for St. Louis MetroBus Stops in Chesterfield Th e completion of a bus stop enhancement project is creating a more convenient and accessible transit experience for MetroBus riders traveling through West St. Louis County. Metro transit representatives joined St. Louis County Councilman Mark Harder and Chesterfi eld Mayor Bob Nation to offi cially introduce the upgraded bus stops, which feature new shelters, seating, signage and improved Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility. Th ese upgrades were paid for by the Chesterfi eld Transportation Development District (TDD). The contract extension is worth approximately $15.60 million. The VMI program identifi es the most-critical and the most-used parts, manages the purchase of trains parts as well as the control and fl ow of the inven- Area Organizations Receive Retired DART RideShare Vans ▶ Three area non-profi t organizations received retired RideShare vans through the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority’s (DART) van donation program. The van donation program was started by the DART Board of Commissioners in 2014 to help meet transit needs of community organizations by donating RideShare vans that were being retired from DART’s fl eet. MassTransitmag.com/12302239 UCI to Acquire All-Electric Buses ▶ The University of California-Irvine (UCI) Anteater Express shuttle service is acquiring 20 buses from BYD for $15 million. The vehicles will roll onto campus for the 2017-18 academic year and will make the fl eet all-electric. MassTransitmag.com/12297947 Laketran Installs Propane Detectors to Prepare for Fleet Arrival ▶ V.L. Chapman Electric Inc. was awarded a contract by Laketran for the supply and installation of 21 indoor propane gas detectors. The propane gas detectors will be purchased using 80 percent federal grant funds with a 20 percent local match. The 30,000-gallon outdoor propane fueling station’s construction was completed in November. Laketran will next equip the 122,000-square-foot vehicle storage garage with sensors to detect any possible buildup of propane gas.
