named Kevin Quinn

the Maryland Department

He has been serving as

She is program manager

advisor, assisting as they

Laketran
The Laketran Board of
Trustees unanimously
voted to promote Ben
Capelle as the Laketran
general manager.
Joining Laketran in
2012, Capelle led the
implementation of many
technology upgrades
including Laketran’s GPS
navigation and tracking,
automatic bus locators,
and online reservations
for dial-a-ride. He also
spearheaded the transition
to propane fuel for
Laketran’s dial-a-ride bus
fl eet, which will yield an
annual 35 percent fuel
savings. Prior to joining
Laketran, Capelle served
as the general manager
of Clermont Transportation
Connection in Ohio.

TCAT
The TCAT Board of
Directors announced
Scot Vanderpool as
general manager.
Vanderpool, who was
hired in January as TCAT’s
operations manager,
came to TCAT with 34
years of transportation
experience at both the
Central New York Regional
Transportation Authority
(CENTRO) in Syracuse
and Syracuse University.
In his new position,
Vanderpool replaces the
late Joe Turcotte, who
served as TCAT’s general
manager since 2005.
He became interested
in public transit in 1983
when he started working
as a part-time bus operator
for CENTRO.

INIT Celebrates Grand Opening of
New Chesapeake Headquarters
▶ INIT Innovations in Transportation Inc.
celebrated the grand opening of its new
North American Headquarters building
located in Chesapeake, Virginia.
The 67,000-square-foot facility was
completed in June of 2017 and cost
approximately $12.5 million to build.
The building is constructed on eight
acres and has has consolidated INIT’s
warehouses, operations, and two manufacturing
fi rms.
