Industry Insights Investing In a Bright Print Future by Sean Holt Over the past eight years we’ve built solid foundations in Mexico, becoming the goto event for wide format print professionals. In 2008 we launched the first ever FESPA Mexico exhibition, which is now an established brand in the Central American market. Since its inception, the exhibition has attracted a growing following among the leading industry suppliers, while also developing a more diverse regional audience. When we launched FESPA Mexico we were keen to guide the Mexican print community by demonstrating the growth opportunities that could be seized with new generation output devices, contemporary substrates and inks. We also identified a gap in the market for an exhibition providing free educational content. Our experience from our European exhibitions has enabled us to add value for Mexican visitors through the introduction of high quality educational content. The thirst for this type of content is illustrated through the onsite conferences, which at every FESPA Mexico event are overflowing with visitors, that’s a clear indication of the market’s demand for knowledge and industry information. Reinvesting As a not for profit organization, the money we generate from our exhibitions goes back into the community, for the benefit of the print community. Examples of this reinvestment can be seen in the educational content programs at FESPA Mexico and our other exhibitions, as well as educational collateral we produce for our member associations. attend, network and learn from some of the industry’s most influential figures. A Bright Print Future At FESPA we are dedicated to providing the best exhibitions and content for regional printers. The fact that FESPA Mexico goes from strength to strength reinforces the value of fresh perspectives. As both a federation of national associations and an exhibition organizer representing the wide format print community, it’s essential for us to have the latest insights into the market, how it’s developing and in which direction it’s diversifying. In 2014 we launched the FESPA Print Census, a global initiative to gather the most comprehensive data ever compiled about the global wide format printing community, which culminated at the Print Mexico Congress. This data will help us to analyze and localize trends we see in the Latin American market, while also comparing it to the bigger, more, global picture. The insights we gain will help us determine the trends, issues and challenges printers are facing, enabling us to tailor FESPA Mexico, the Print Mexico Congress and other educational content to meet their needs. See you in Mexico City! With eight years of experience in Mexico firmly under our belt, we are continuing to cement our position as the dominant speciality print event in the region. The next To sustain our commitment in the region, in April this year we ran our first Print Mexico Congress to extend FESPA’s support for the Mexican print community and to respond to the continued requirements for in-depth education content and trend info. Fifty delegates attended the Congress to hear from regional experts about the latest developments and opportunities in print, as well as key areas to enhance printers’ businesses. Salient themes during the day included: the economy’s impact on the printing industry, the future of wide format print, and new market areas such as 3D printing and digital signage. The Congress was funded through FESPA’s Profit for Purpose program and was part of a larger series of events in 2015, reinforcing FESPA’s commitment to education and knowledge sharing. We’re thrilled with the interest in the Mexico Congress and are committed to making this an annual event in partnership with Mexican industry Association, Canagraf. This will ensure that there is a platform—outside of the FESPA Mexico exhibition— for Central American printers to 24 Wide-Format Imaging | July 2015 MyPRINTResource.com
