2014 was a great year for our team as we began to share our new brand strategy and vision; introduced the first wave of new products and services like Signature Packaging and eChecksPro; expanded DFSfullcolor.com and introduced myDFShub.com QP: What do you consider the greatest asset to be for the industry right now? Why? FC: The people and the relationships they build. Resellers who are willing to learn and adapt are thriving in this industry. I admire their tenacity. They are hard-working people who have found a way to adapt to the changing needs of their customers. They are leveraging technology to be able to offer more solutions and to find ways to save them time in their busy day. QP: In your opinion, what have been the biggest changes to the way we communicate with one another in the past few years? How would you recommend this industry take advantage of that? FC: The demand is for communication to be instant, no matter where you are. Mobile apps are in demand as a way to access relevant information while you’re on the go. Making sure all of us provide customer access, via the channels they want to use, is important whether online, via email, phone, mobile app, etc. We also need to find ways to help our resellers become more visible in places and ways customers want to buy. QP: Looking ahead, what major innovations or technologies do you believe will shape the future of the industry, and why? FC: Solutions that solve basic business problems. They will exist as a function of technology. They will be flexible and scalable to fit the needs of diverse businesses. They will cross the boundaries to include both tactile and digital benefits (think direct mail in concert with email). And they will address both ‘transactional’ and ‘promotional’ challenges. I’ve always said “engage with customers, listen to their challenges, and offer them ideas. The rest will fall into place.” QP: What is the biggest piece of advice you would give to printers and others involved in this industry? FC: Printers are smart people. The most successful stay focused on the customer, look for pain points and how they can help solve them. They often build a strong network of supply partners to help them meet their customer’s needs. QP: Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers? FC: I strive to always be forward thinking, anticipating customers’ future needs, and put myself in a position to provide those solutions. eChecks are a great example.
