New Fine Printing Papers Swatchbook Monadnock Paper Mills, Inc. has announced a new sample book showcasing environmentally friendly uncoated Marketing Impact Papers. The book of full-sized swatches makes the paper specification process easier and more inspirational for designers, printers and other Monadnock customers. The new sample book features rich print demonstrations on Monadnock’s FSC-certified fine printing grades Astrolite, Astrolite PC 100, Dulcet, and Caress. Astrolite is a brilliant white uncoated paper with superior formation and surface uniformity for excellent printability. Offered in smooth, a toothy vellum, and a luxuriously tactile ultra-smooth silk finish, it has high opacity to minimize showthrough and dimensional stability to assure consistent registration and on-press performance. Astrolite PC 100 is one of the cleanest, brightest, and smoothest 100 percent recycled printing papers made. FSC certification assures that 100 percent postconsumer recycled fiber was used to make this paper. Dulcet is an elegant neutral white premium paper that is color-balanced for highly accurate color reproduction—particularly in flesh tones. Dulcet was designed for excellent printability and meets ANSI standards for longevity. Caress is a sophisticated mellow white paper with an exquisite surface and superior formation. The muted tone of Caress adds richness and warmth to colors and accentuates sepia tones and lends a humanizing effect to portraiture. Gmund Color System Marlborough-based LCI Paper Company will become the selected carrier of Germany’s newest, most outstanding paper made by Gmund. The two companies are excited for Americans to experience their distinctly fine product. The new Gmund Color System will be produced in their private mill, which utilizes traditional methods no longer utilized anywhere else in the world alongside special high-tech machinery. Gmund continually invests in modern, energy-efficient and environmentally responsible production. MyPRINTResource.com/ 10717977 HP T1100 Simplex Color Inkjet Web Press HP and KBA have announced plans to develop the HP T1100 Simplex Color Inkjet Web Press, a high speed, high volume, 110-inch -wide (2.8 meter) web press for pre-printing of corrugated top liner. This will enable corrugators to combine many individual jobs together on a roll or across rolls for short, mid or long runs. Unlike traditional analog pre-print, every box can be different. Planned to print at speeds of up to 600 feet (183 meters) per minute and produce up to 300,000 square feet (30,000 square meters) per hour, this inkjet press will print corrugated liner rolls that can then be placed directly onto existing industry-standard 110 inch-wide (2.5 or 2.8 meter) corrugators. This press will be the first solution co-developed by the two companies since the announcement of their strategic collaboration at Graph Expo 14 in Chicago. Centralized corrugated box plants MyPRINTResource.com/10006744 serving major retail brands will especially benefit from this digital pre-print solution for all corrugated print applications. Brands are increasingly requiring just-in-time inventory, shorter runs, and faster turn-around time. HP’s inkjet technology enables significant time, material, and shipping cost advantages when compared to analog processes. Digital preprint is more efficient than post-print alternatives.
