Making the Move from Print to Interactive Air Motion Systems. Inc. (AMS) Pondres is a service provider of data-driven multichannel marketing solutions based in the Netherlands. From print and direct mail to digital marketing campaigns to fulfillment, the company develops and deploys innovative and fully personalized multichannel solutions that result in more efficient and effective business communications. Together with its clients, Pondres’ mission is to create a better experience for customers across all channels. In 2014, Achmea, a leading Dutch insurance company, came to Pondres for help in initiating a switch from paper to digital for its pension statements. At the time, Achmea was using multiple systems for delivering its communications, which was creating inconsistent statements across the different channels. Achmea also recognized that, to stay viable, it must find a way to appeal to customers who preferred digital while still meeting the needs of its more traditional customer base. Additionally, Achmea wanted to make its communications more interactive, but had limited capability to add video and other engaging elements. Setting a new expectation Pondres was one of the early adopters of GMC Software Technology’s (Booth 4051) Inspire Dynamic Communications worldwide and understood that customers expect direct 24/7 access and now buy and configure services from mobile devices. Pondres recognized the importance of setting a new standard with mobile communications that would allow its clients to initiate a smooth transition to digital communications with great new features for their customers. Inspire Dynamic Communications enable the creation of interactive, digital customer communications that deliver intuitive and attractive charts, graphs and other graphical representations of a customer’s transactional information. The rich, user-friendly functionality allows customers to drill down to a granular level of detail and build highly relevant, personalized views of their information with just a few clicks on any PC, tablet or iOS device. Financial institutions and third-party print service providers have traditionally generated paper statements using transaction data, which is typically encrypted XML or similar data. Using exactly the same data sources coupled with GMC’s Inspire Dynamic Communications platform, these organizations can now create interactive statements instead of—or in addition to—the paper statements that are typically produced in AFP or PDF formats. Pondres used the capabilities of Inspire Dynamic Communications to transform Achmea’s pension statements into a single file optimized for email, web, SMS and print. Able to be viewed through any PC, tablet or iOS device, it is now possible for Achmea to deliver them via the customer’s preferred channel, whether it’s print or digital. Additionally, the platform allows Achmea to add video, graphics, charts, and other design elements it wanted to make its communications more engaging. Improve both customer experience and profitability By implementing Inspire Dynamic Communications, Pondres has helped Achmea improve its customers’ experience and engagement with more consistent communications across all channels. Seeing the digital, interactive, and clear access to pension statements Pondres created, participants in the plan were more likely to prefer the digital information to printed statements. Hence, the digital option stimulated a larger interest in the individual pension information. 80% of participants subsequently chose the digital solution, making it possible for Achmea to reduce its paper processes by moving 17,000 customers to the digital communications. For Pondres, Inspire Dynamic Communications offers an opportunity for an additional revenue stream. Every service provider interested in enhancing its revenue cycle should consider that offering only static documents is a thing of the past. Providing client companies with the opportunity to let their customers interact with their communications in a relevant way will help improve the customer experience and loyalty overall—as well as a service provider’s profitability. AMS Reports Record Growth of LED UV (Booth 460) reports a doubling of the number of LED UV systems installed in sheetfed printing compared to one year ago. “Now at over 200 installations globally, the adoption rate of LED UV on sheetfed offset presses is like nothing I’ve seen during the last 25 years,” says Hans Ulland, Co-Founder and Vice President of Sales for Air Motion Systems, Inc. Today, over two thirds of AMS’ systems sales now include LED. Innovation, customer care, and product quality are the three primary reasons AMS has maintained its leadership position. According to Ulland, “LED UV provides an almost too-good-to-be-true solution compared to traditional UV because it eliminates mercury, ozone, and heat—three of the main concerns for printers using UV. With the primary benefit of instantly dry sheets going straight from the press to the bindery, our customers couldn’t be happier with their productivity gains,” he adds. “LED UV is a pressroom investment that typically pays for itself in just a few months,” says Steve Metcalf, President and CEO. “Those who have installed it on one press usually look to convert another Approximately 1,000 professionals from over 30 countries attended the LED-UV and Traditional UV Conference, including several of Air Motion Systems, Inc. top team members. press within a short period of time. With its attractive return on investment, an LED system has allowed many of our customers to accelerate their other pressroom capital investments.” In addition to GRAPH EXPO 15, AMS plans to demonstrate the many of the AMS LED systems at LabelExpo Europe 2015, in Brussels, Belgium and at drupa 2016 next May. AMS will also host its Annual Print UV Conference that invites exhibitors and attendees from around the world. This conference will take place in Las Vegas, NV in early March 2016.
