NEW PRODUCTS Compact Press System The Goss (Booth 853) Magnum Compact is a highly automated 2x1 web offset press for the production of newspapers, books, and semi-commercial publications. The press includes automatic plate changing as standard. The full sequence of old plate removal/new plate loading requires less than 30 seconds. Multi-shaftless press drives are standard on every model, with the result that each cylinder level and inker module is driven totally independently, as is the infeed roller, providing maximum flexibility and control over changeover waste. This combination of automation technologies makes the Magnum Compact press ideal for producing run lengths from 500 copies to 250,000+. Inline and Offline Finishing Solution The FormerLine system from manroland web systems (Booth 1267) provides both inline production and offline finishing of preprinted reels. Together with the VBC collator, the system generates stacked signatures of up to 6,000 auxiliary-glued book blocks up to 100 mm thick, per hour. Enhanced Job Delivery Control Enfocus (Booth 444) is showcasing Connect 13, which answers the need for better communication and easier document and metadata exchange between graphic design and premedia, production, and print. Enfocus Connect removes technical barriers from PDF creation and total job delivery to remote servers. With Connect, settings are encapsulated in a custom application called a Connector that provides consistency. Connect 13 provides workflow and delivery enhancements for print service providers while delivering a new advanced Connector structure that is easier to install, manage, and access for all users. New workflow functions include the ability to restrict or allow delivery of files based on file type. With this feature, PSPs can limit what types of files are delivered to their servers and communicate any issues before the file leaves the designer’s workstation. In addition, users will be able to select what type of Enfocus PitStop Report is created and delivered with files, and apply PitStop Action Lists to locally saved PDF files processed by a Connector in order to apply watermarks, reduce image resolution, and more. High Definition Printhead HP (Booth 1202) is showcasing High Definition Nozzle Architecture (HDNA) technology for HP Inkjet Web Presses. The HDNA printhead doubles the native print resolution of current HP InkJet printheads from 10,560 to 21,120 nozzles, delivering 2,400 nozzles per inch, and supports dual drop weight per color for sharp text, fine lines, accurate skin tones, smooth gray and color transitions, and enhanced highlight and shadow detail. HP offers a new quality mode, which prints up to 400 feet (122 meters) per minute in color with dual drop weight for a step function improvement in print quality. Powered by High Definition Nozzle Architecture technology, the maximum print speed enabled will be up to 800 feet (244 meters) per minute. Bookbinding Machine Imaging Solutions (Booth 3861) is producing premium photo books at GRAPH EXPO 15, using its fastBook10CF bookbinding machine to turn printed sheets into book blocks. The fastBook10CF produces photo books or calendars using layflat technology. Compact in size, fastBook10CF provides 4-in-1 production steps: automatic feeding of single sheets and cardboard, creasing, folding, and gluing. The integrated cardboard feeder manufactures photo products by inserting cardboard between two single sheets; this sandwich technology provides high-quality calendars and photo books. The system’s hotmelt glue system and short makeready times deliver high productivity. FIve-Color LED Printer Neopost (Booth 2602) is showcasing HD-CX1700, a 5-color (CYMK+) LED printer. Modular in design, the fifth color can be either white or clear toner, providing the ability to print white text or full color graphics on dark media. Clear toner can be used to apply a full varnish or selectively to accent sections or simulate an embossed effect. It can print full color on 360-gsm card stock, 14-point polyester, magnetic media, and transparency films—in sizes ranging from 3x5" cards to 13x52" banners. It can print on media up to 500-gsm from the mutli-purpose tray under proper environmental conditions. With a throughput speed of 50 ppm in monochrome or color on letter size paper at 600 dpi, it has a maximum print quality of 1200x1200 dpi with 4-bit, 16-level dot control for extra crisp text and image clarity. Friction Feeder Multifeeder Technology (Booth 3740) is introducing its third generation MFT Industrial Performance IP3 Friction Feeder. The computer is now eight times faster, which allows for greater accuracy at higher speeds. It comes equipped with M8 and M12 connectors, a visible indicator for the product thickness sensor, and added Input/Output connections for integration with a different machines. The third generation 1300 Dual High Speed Lugged Conveyor Precision Web Tipping system (DHSL) is utilized to present extended content labels onto a web of a flexo or other host machine precisely. The first section presents the product with consistent repeat and the second section uses lead edge lug justification to register the product to delivery accuracy as tight as +/- 1/64". The 1300 DHSL is the perfect choice for tipping onto a web based system or for other applications requiring precise product placement. 3D Software for Packaging IC3D Suite from CGS Publishing Technologies International (Booth 645) is a 3D visualization, ideation, and design application for all packaging types. It lets graphic designers easily create 3D models and apply artwork, so decision makers can visualize the final package—in real time 3D. Version 3 adds six new capabilities: • Shape Modeller’s WYSIWYG tools let designers create 3D models without needing traditional 3D/CAD software. • Version 3 added Shrink Undistort, which automatically corrects any critical distorted artwork elements and creates a new, production-ready Illustrator file • IC3D Suite can now directly import and apply native PDF artwork from any PDF-based workflows, including Adobe InDesign, Kodak, Fujifilm, Esko, Screen, Agfa, and Enfocus. • Three other new Version 3 features include a free Windows and Mac IC3D native file viewer, a carton/POS-only version, and a “floating” or concurrent use licensing model. Wide Format Workflow Solution The EFI (Booth 1902) Fiery proServer is a high-performance RIP and color management workflow for superwide format inkjet printing. With version 6.1, the linearization tool for VUTEk printers was completely re-engineered, allowing users to improve color quality, faster then ever before. Linearization steps are reduced from seven to two. Linearization sets parameters for the best possible output. These parameters include ink limits, ink transitions, and tone curves. The new VUTEk linearization is now available for all Fiery proServers connected to VUTEk printers. The tool is compatible with all major spectrophotometers from EFI, X-Rite, and Barbieri. Inkjet CtP System The iCtP PlateWriter 3600 PRO from Glunz & Jensen, Inc.
