GRAPH EXPO 16 MUST SEE ’EMS Winners Announced The 2016 MUST SEE ’EMS winners have been selected and are on exhibit at GRAPH EXPO 16. Chosen by a panel of industry experts, these innovative technologies represent the most compelling advances in 11 categories spanning the entire graphic communications industry. “Every year, the MUST SEE ’EMS competition is one of the highlights of the GRAPH EXPO and PRINT shows,” says Thayer Long, President of the Graphic Arts Show Company (GASC) and NPES President. “This year is certainly no exception with an exciting lineup of new technologies and innovative advances in each category and industry segment. Especially noteworthy for GRAPH EXPO 16, this year’s winning entries include submissions from two new exhibitors to the show, and 2016 also set a new record for the number of entries in two of the 11 product categories: ‘Management Systems’ and ‘the Future of Print: Technology Demonstrations’. “The annual MUST SEE ’EMS competition singles out the year’s best technology offerings,” adds Long. “From among these winners, judges choose what they consider the best product in each category to be named ‘Best of Category’.” The 2016 “Best of Category” winners culled from this year’s MUST SEE ’EMS competition were announced at the close of the EXECUTIVE OUTLOOK Conference Sunday, September 25, 2016 immediately prior to the opening of GRAPH EXPO 16. The selection was announced and the award presented at the conclusion of the 2016 EXECUTIVE OUTLOOK Conference on Sunday, September 25 immediately prior to the show opening of GRAPH EXPO 16, which runs through September 28, 2016 at the Orange County Convention Center North in Orlando, FL. The iGen3, a MUST SEE ’EMS Award winner in 2001, was chosen by a selection committee of industry experts, journalists, and consultants who were tasked with singling out a former MUST SEE ’EMS product that has motivated and inspired real innovation and change. “When this product was introduced to the graphic communications industry it received immediate acclaim,” says Long. “Since that time it has helped engineer a sea change in the industry by proving that production digital imaging could compete in speed, quality, and productivity with the then-dominant offset technology.” Comments from members of the Selection Committee included: “The dominance of modular, medium format production presses with field-replaceable components was assured by the popularity and effi cacy of the iGen3.” “The iGen franchise is still performing strongly and it helped to launch that line of production equipment to mainstream status.” “Xerox showed that the science of digital imaging could be applied in a workable, practical way to a printing press that emulated the look, size, speed, and quality of the standard of the day—offset printing. The iGen3 became the paradigm that directed digital press design from the time of its development to today.” Xerox and In-Plant Graphics Breakfast Customer Panel Start your day at an exclusive breakfast for the in-plant community.
