GraphExpo Show Daily Day 1

Affordable High Speed, High Quality Digital IColor Has Arrived! n the past, cost of entry has been a barrier to printers who want to enter the high-volume digital print market. Ricoh Americas Corporation (Booth 1231) blasted away that barrier when it launched the RICOH Pro C9100 and RICOH Pro C9110, allowing commercial printers to expand their digital capabilities and drive new business growth. At GRAPH EXPO 15, Ricoh is showcasing the RICOH Pro C9100—a power packed system that offer high-speed, high-quality and high volume, all at affordable prices. Both the RICOH Pro C9100 and RICOH Pro C9110 feature the fastest engine speeds in Ricoh’s cutsheet lineup. With speeds of 110 and 130 pages per minute (ppm), a proven core engine technology with advanced Fiery controller options, and the ability to print on media up to 400 gsm, they deliver superior quality, reliability, and productivity at prices much lower than what is currently available today, further enabling companies to transition from offset to digital. In a market previously dominated by more expensive offerings, the RICOH Pro C9100/C9110 allow printers to transform and deliver their information with fast turns and more personalization, all at the right price, ensuring greater profitability. From high speed digital output at near-offset quality to variable-data options and a broader range of media capabilities to superior ink transfer technology, the RICOH Pro C9100 series provides a greater feature set at a lower cost. This best-in class solution ultimately enables print and marketing service providers to produce high-value, high-quality output such as marketing collateral (brochures and flyers) and direct mail pieces (coupons and postcards) with a rapid turnaround. The RICOH Pro C9110/C9100 print at 1200xx4800 dpi with VCSEL image quality. The series can support paper weights of up to 400gsm in both simplex and duplex allowing for increased applications and efficiency. With a maximum standard sheet size of 13x19.2", a maximum monthly volume of one million based on A4, and a duty cycle of 1.75m, they offer customers greater flexibility. Other value-adds of the RICOH Pro C9100/C9110 include: • An AC-transfer system and elastic fusing belt to highlight output on a variety of heavily textured media that are vacuum-fed from all eight paper drawers (up to 3 LCTs) with a 27.5" oversized media printing option; • An image feedback system that gives real time feedback and correction of engine calibration; and mechanical registration that can be easily adjusted by the customer from the operation panel; • A straight paper path with LED guidance for user intervention; • An increased color gamut for increased output fidelity; • Automatic adjustment for media density, resulting in less wasted toner and a lower toner melting point, meaning faster warm-up times and increased energy efficiency; • A media library that allows users to adjust and associate 99 different parameters per substrate to help ensure IQ and reliability, including different ICC profiles for front and back of a sheet; • A media identification unit for matching unique media types to those in the media library; • New Fiery controllers using the latest FS150 platform; • A complete suite of optional finishing solutions, including the Plockmatic booklet maker, booklet folder, and trimmers and the GBC StreamPunch Pro EX for in-tab punching; and • Improved productivity with Ricoh’s TCRU program (Trained Customer Replaceable Units), which enables customers to replace more than a dozen parts for increased uptime and performance. How to Fend Off Athe Patent Trolls ttention OEMs, distributors, and printers. The GRAPH EXPO 15 Seminar on Fending Off Patent Trolls is for you. Led by Cal Poly Professor Emeritus Harvey R. Levenson, this seminar addresses graphic arts patents and the growing patent troll matter. The purpose of this seminar is to assist with a major growing concern for the printing industry. An increasing number of OEMs, distributors, and printing companies have been hit with demands for licensing fees or huge one-time payments from patent trolls trying to capitalize on existing software and technology representing proven successes for the printing industry. “These companies have nothing to do with our industry but are threatening our positive contributions to the national and world economy and job market. Our business clients and employee jobs are at stake,” says Levenson. This seminar will cover how to deal with the issue should a company be approached by a troll and threatened with a lawsuit if payment demands are not met. “I’ve been assisting the printing industry for over 25 years on patent issues, and,” according to Levenson, “the reality is that many of the patents that trolls have purchased are invalid due to the existence of Prior Art that would nullify them.” The seminar is entitled: Patent Protection for Graphic Art Technology Users and OEMs: Patent Trolls BEWARE! WHEN: Monday, September 14, 2015 TIME: 8:30 - 10:00 am PLACE: McCormick Place South, Room S405b Following an introductory presentation, a panel will provide additional insights. The panel will include: • Mark Nuzzaco, NPES Government Affairs Director: Will represent OEMs and distributors • Joe Polanco, President, PIA MidAmerica: Will represent printers • Nate St.Clair, Patent attorney and Partner, Jackson Walker LLP: Will provide a legal perspective For more information and seminar registration go to: graphexpo.com and navigate to “seminars.” RICOH Pro C9100 Official Show Daily | PrintingNews.com GRAPH EXPO | September 13, 2015 | 39
