NEW PRODUCTS both the RICOH Pro C7100 and RICOH Pro C9100 series to enable job management from one centralized tool. It can receive data formats including PS, PDF, and optional IPDS support. The software can be used to improve efficiency of production workflow tasks including automating workshop and server tasks, sending e-mails, scheduling tasks, and interacting with other machines. It also offers an automated offset-to-digital hybrid workflow that enables rules that automatically trigger every time pre-determined conditions occur. Web-to-Print Solution XMPie (Booth 613) StoreFlow Cloud is a subscription-based solution for creating Web-to-print portals. It is fully compatible with XMPie’s suite of solutions for personalization and multichannel communications. It offers a cost-effective way to create and manage e-commerce websites that enable visitors to upload their documents, or select a template from a catalog and personalize it, price the job, and submit it for processing and handling. Both variable and static pages can be combined within the same document. StoreFlow Cloud leverages Xerox FreeFlow Core technology to streamline and automate prepress functions and other print fulfilment workflows—critical for touchless, cost-effective fulfillment of jobs. Print Inspection System Targeted at the high performance digital print sector, the Discovery MaxScan from Lake Image Systems (Booth 2263) is a new addition to the Discovery MultiScan family. It uses a contact sensor, lens, and LED illumination arrangement to produce consistent, undistorted full color image definition at 600 dpi. These advances enable this compact unit to operate at working distance of just 12mm (.5") and reduces the required headroom to less than 130mm (5"), even with webs in excess of 900mm wide. Available in three sizes: 309mm (12"), 619mm (24"), and 929mm (36"), this enables easy integration within the transport system of all digital printers, label presses, and finishing equipment. Sophisticated image processing software and 64bit OS enables Discovery MultiScan to read and quickly process the extremely large (1GB+) images that are typically created by MaxScan. Spectrophotometer Konica Minolta (Booth 1913) has developed the FD-9, an auto-scanning spectrophotometer with inter-instrument agreement capable of measuring a standard color chart. It has a high-speed spot measurement of 1,500 patches in four minutes, with continuous measurement utilizing the automatic sheet feeder option with a maximum of 100 sheets. Another feature is its connectivity, which allows it to be used in a network environment to serve multiple printers from all major manufacturers. It also includes a free format function that enables users to scan the charts and start measuring with no formatting required. Aqueous Inks and Coatings Magnum Magnetics (Booth 3048) is showcasing its new manufacturing capabilities in aqueous inks and coatings for multiple commercial and package printing applications. Magnum is introducing its wide selection of aqueous inks and coatings for printing applications including foil, film, laminated pouches, tags and labels, folding cartons, multi-walled bags, and more. Magnum’s water-based inks are low-VOC, environmentally friendly, and made in the USA. Magnum is also introducing its Magnum-UV line of protective and aesthetic UV-curable coatings for digital and offset printing. Multi-Channel Software The Relay multi-channel communications suite from Pitney Bowes (Booth 1239) combines SaaS technology for document content and digital channel flexibility with a new range of inserters. The Relay communications hub is a simple-to-deploy cloud- based software solution that works with a client’s existing print outputs to enhance content, including adding 2D barcodes and creating the data necessary to operate a file-based processing environment. The inserter series brings 2D barcode reading capability to the mid- volume tabletop inserter market and file-based processing to the high-volume tabletop inserter market. These inserters assemble mail using 2D barcode scanning, file-based processing, and exit scanning to read the barcodes added by the Relay communications hub. Press with LED UV Curing The Ryobi MHI (Booth 4213) 925 with Smart RPC and InstaColor provides rapid makeready, minimal paper waste, and high print quality through simultaneous automatic plate changing, fully integrated CIP-3 pre-setting, Smart pre-inking, and de-inking. The Smart RPC system changes all plates in less than two minutes and printed sheets are produced within 2.5 minutes. Fully approved sheets are delivered within four minutes or less. Total makeready sheets range from 25 to 100 depending on the substrate produced. Through use of LED UV curing technology the printed sheets are instantly cured and ready to process when they are delivered. Modular LED UV Drying The AMS (Booth 460) XP9 Series breaks new ground in ultra high-power LED UV technology for high-speed and packaging class sheetfed offset litho presses. The XP9 delivers a full 17 Watts of LED intensity—10x the output of conventional UV lamp. Clear UV Specialty Ink EFI (Booth 1902) VUTEk H2000 Pro Clear Ink is a special-effect ink option for the two-meter wide VUTEk H2000 Pro. It can run as a single- or double-channel ink in the printer. The EFI H2000 Pro Clear Ink runs at the printer’s same production speeds – 225 sqft/hr at 1,000 dpi in best quality mode or 710 sqft/hr at 600 dpi in POP Quality mode. It also runs at the same designated resolutions used in the printer’s CMYK and white color channels. Users can run the ink either as a spot clear or as a flood coat varnish. Cutting & Collating System The Jetstream with Auto Collator from Rollem (Booth 425) is a fully automated rotary bi-directional slitting and collating system for producing card pack products such as playing cards, collector’s sets, and game cards. Jetstream cuts the sheet both vertically and horizontally; mechanical accumulating fingers gather cards in a single sweeping motion to deliver highly precise collated packs of card products.
