NEW PRODUCTS Production Feed System. The digital solution allows users to print on a wide variety of media including extremely thick card stocks up to 500gsm. A four-part color process combines multilevel LED printheads, microfine toner, and Single Pass Color Technology. It offers a straight feed path design that allow users to feed extra thick card stocks, most pre die-cut/ perforated blanks and print on sheet sizes from 3x5" up to 13x52". The Heavyweight Champion is driven by the easy-to-use iQueue Prepress Workflow that automates and simplifies numerous prepress tasks including imposition/tiling, Right On Spot Color Matching, independent CMYK density adjustment, and variable data with Intelligent Mail barcodes, sequential numbering. iQueue also features a universal print driver that can connect to any Adobe PostScript printer in the network. Press with Digital Finishing The new MGI (Booth 3013) Meteor Meteor DP1000 XL & DF Pro solution is an integrated production print and finishing platform with 20 functions of cutting, creasing, perforating, and trimming into one single package. The DP1000 XL & DF Pro product suite delivers personalized, VDP documents that are finished for job completion and customer delivery in a single pass when it comes off the press. The range of supported size formats goes up to 13x47”. This long format capability allows for the production of panoramic five-panel gatefold documents (like brochures) or signs and banners on stocks ranging from 80 to 350 g / sqm; on papers, plastics, envelopes, and the widest range of specialty substrates in the industry. Rotary Die Cutter THERM-O-TYPE (Booth 4013) is introducing the RDC-3852 rotary die cutter. Using it, customers can accurately die cut odd shaped products. It comes standard with a waste stripping station and delivery conveyor. Registration pins are used to accurately position dies on the magnetic cylinder. Vertical and horizontal registration are controlled using a touch screen computer and set up information can be stored and retrieved. Pre-set waste stripper assemblies can be attached or removed without tools. Complete set up time can be as little as two minutes when setting up a stored program. Digital Finishing System PriscoDigital LLC (Booth 3607) is conducting live design-to-print-to-cut workflow demonstrations featuring the Kongsberg XP24 Automatic Digital Finishing System from Esko. With a maximum working area of 87x126" and a maximum speed of 66 inches per second, the XP Series can convert a wide range of board, sheet, and roll materials from papers, styrene, PVC, corrugated, foam boards, acrylics, and environmental boards. It is driven by the i-Cut Suite of software that automates preflight, editing, and layout of graphic files. Entry-Level Flatbed Inkjet Ricoh (Booth 1231) is showing the Mimaki JFX200-2513, an entry-level inkjet flatbed wide format printer that can print on virtually any substrate up to 2" thick and up to 4x8'. In addition to CMYK and white, the JFX200-2513 has clear ink for adding a full or partial gloss coat, and a clear control unit that combines clear ink jetting and UV light for instant drying. By using Ricoh piezo printheads with three drop sizes, it helps ensure smooth natural color gradations. The Mimaki Advanced Pass System 2 applies ink in gradations during several passes using a mask pattern in combination with UV light that helps minimize banding. It is designed to be kind to the environment, using long-lived LED-UV curing lamps with low heat output and operating with very low volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and very little odor. Wide Format Substrates GPA (Booth 3822) is expanding its offering of substrates for wide format presses. Its growing line of Concept Media Solutions is available in a wide variety of face materials, adhesives, and liners to accommodate the largest variety of applications and printing processes. Other additions include pressure sensitive paper and AlumiGraphics foil media. GPA’s offering for wide format presses includes: • White, clear, and translucent vinyl • Static cling vinyl • Floor and carpet graphics • Wall graphics • Vehicle wraps • Window and perforated graphics • Pressure sensitive paper • Mounting films and laminates High-Speed Inkjet Xerox Corp. (Booth 613) is spotlighting the IJP 2000 Wide Format Printer. When the IPJ 2000 runs with the Fotoba FHS42 Cutter, it achieves fast speeds for full-bleed posters, banners, and signs. The optional Performance Package combines Xerox technology and scanning solutions for advanced image quality management and multifunction capabilities. With the enhanced image quality management, more high coverage jobs can be produced faster by correcting streaking and banding that result from variations in print-head performance. The scan-to-print and scan-to-file capabilities available through the Xerox 7742 Scan Solution allows documents with handwritten notations and amendments to be scanned then printed or filed. The Performance Package runs on the IJP 2000’s Caldera GrandRIP+ with an intuitive user interface, so the workflow remains centralized and simple. Digital Cutter ZÜnd (Booth 3007) is showcasing the S3 cutter with automatic sheet-feeder and robot integration for a totally automated production workflow. From Prep Center to ZÜnd Cut Center’s automatic QR-code capture, attendees can see every aspect of ZÜnd Total Automation in action. No matter how graphics are nested, or in what sequence single or multiple stacks of printed sheets are fed onto the cutting table, ZÜnd Cut Center automatically captures the embedded QR-codes, retrieves the corresponding cut files, and cuts sheet after sheet without interruption, all while the robot continuously picks and stacks finished product. Cut-Off Register Control InlineCutoff Control dynamic from manroland web systems (Booth 1267) is the fastest cut-off register control that is available at the market. This is enabled by an additional camera that measures and controls the web directly in front of the folding knife. According to the system configuration, the customer is able to save more than 50% of cut-off waste during reel changes or single blanket washing. Also, a significantly smoother cut with fewer imperfections can be achieved at every production start and run. Because of this, the print run after interferences like start-up, blanket washing, or reel change can be adjusted earlier than with a conventional control with mechanical compensators for cutting positions. Solutions for Direct Mail The microglue line of equipment from Valco Melton (Booth 4203) provides customers with a range of high performance, hot melt and cold glue dispensing systems and accessories that have been designed to meet the application requirements of the direct mail, paperboard converting, and print finishing markets. The all-in-one-glue systems are designed to provide precise control and outstanding performance with fugitive, permanent, remoistenable, or pressure sensitive hot melt adhesives. Complete kits feature pattern control, system encoder, product sensor, hose(s), glue valve(s), and tank or melt unit. Kits also include segmented rollers, and can easily adapt to all paper folder machines, including Baumfolder, Kluge, Stahl, MBO, and others. Digital Possibilities Verso (Booth 3667) is showcasing its latest brochure Ed #16 Digital Possibilities. With new print techniques like metallic inks, varnishes, embossed-like dimensionality, ultraviolet ink, and more, digital printing is winning over even the biggest skeptics. And with the convergence of data, GPS and other technologies, the realm of possibility has exploded for targeted, highly personalized print strategies. When it comes to reaching and motivating an audience, print works. And when smart technologies meet smart marketers and designers, print works even better than ever. Bookletmaking System Morgana Systems (Booth 2448) is debuting the latest addition to its bookletmaking range, the BM500. The machine is capable of producing booklets of up to 200 pages. It adds to the capabilities of the company’s current set of bookletmakers, which are primarily focused at producing up to 30 sheets of 20 pound. 46 September 13, 2015 | GRAPH EXPO Official Show Daily | PrintingNews.com
