NEW PRODUCTS Digital Press The HP (Booth 1202) Indigo 7800 Digital Press provides printers simplified color management, improved productivity, and an expanded application range. Offering direct printing on synthetic substrates with One Shot Color technology, the press supports HP Indigo ElectroInk Digital Matte for spot coating effects on glossy substrates in addition to other special inks, including HP Indigo ElectroInk Invisible Red and Light Black. It provides automated on-press color management aided by an in-line spectrophotometer. An automation feature helps prioritize print jobs with optimized on-press job sequencing according to job length, media, image types, and job priority. Prepress Portal The most critical capability enhancements available through KODAK INSITE Prepress Portal System 7 from Eastman Kodak (Booth 823) are a result of being developed on HTML5. It brings secure and productive 24/7 Web access to KODAK PRINERGY Workflow, giving customers greater control to securely submit and track jobs, collaborate on changes, review, and approve work anywhere and anytime. Booklet System Duplo USA Corporation (Booth 1926) is unveiling the 600i Booklet System. Integrating the DBM-600 Bookletmaker with the high-speed DSC-10/60i Suction Collators, it produces professional saddle, side, or corner-stitched booklets as well as letter landscape applications. It can produce up to 5,200 booklets per hour or collate up to 10,000 sets per hour into a stacker. It features the PC Controller software, which enables users to operate the system from a PC as well as create and save an unlimited number of jobs onto the hard drive for even faster changeovers. Users can customize the 600i Booklet System with a variety of options to fit their needs such as the DKT-200 Two-Knife Trimmer and Gutter Cutter for three-side trimming capabilities and 2-up processing. Estimator for Specialty Toners The EFI (Booth 1902) Fiery Smart Estimator is a standalone application that provides cost estimation for specialty color toner coverage. It can be installed directly on an EFI Fiery server, on a networked PC, or on a standalone offline PC. It provides two methods to estimate specialty color costs: • Offline mode: Fiery Smart Estimator works as a calculator to provide a cost estimate based on job information. • Online mode: Fiery Smart Estimator connects directly to the Fiery server to access job logs and get the estimated toner usage for a given job after RIPing. It then performs estimations based on the reported toner usage, price, and yield entered in the application. Digital Production Color The Xerox (Booth 613) iGen 5 has offerings at 90ipm, 120ipm, and 150ipm and features a fifth color unit. The current options of orange, green, or blue supplement CMYK and can hit distinctive brand colors. Operators can change colors in the fifth station in less than 30 minutes. A variety of color matching, job setup, and quality control automation tools ensure maximum uptime. The system operates at rated speed, regardless of the weight of the paper or the number of toner stations engaged. The system’s 14.33x26" sheet size enables more economical production of six-panel brochures, gatefold pamphlets, pocket folders, and direct mail. It is configurable and field upgradeable for print speed, number of colors, feeding, and finishing options. Flatbed UV Printer The VersaUV LEJ-640FT flatbed UV printer from Roland DGA (Booth 4253) is an industrial-strength inkjet capable of printing directly on substrates up to 6" thick and weighing as much as 220 pounds. Its all-steel frame reduces vibration, while adjustable pinpoint guides ensure precise registration. A zoned vacuum bed optimizes suction to keep substrates flat, and dual stepper motors with a rack and pinion drive system ensure accurate printing. In addition to CMYK, it offers white and clear coat inks. It is also equipped with a Roland Automated Ink Circulation System that prevents unnecessary discharges and minimizes the settling of pigments in the ink lines. Direct Mail Processing AccuZIP (Booth 1258) Direct Mail Configurator integrates the only Enfocus Switch Configurator for complete data quality and direct mail processing. This is the only Enfocus Switch Direct Mail Configurator available in the U.S. There is no cost to integrate and test the AccuZIP Direct Mail Configurator. When you are ready, you can select from a Transactional or Subscription based pricing model to best suite your needs. This is a tool that will increase revenue and reduce costs associated with pre- or post-processes of the data that will enter the mail stream. Wall Viewing Systems GTI Graphic Technology, Inc. (Booth 435) is spotlighting its expertise and product portfolio in the design of an ISO 3664:2009 D50 compliant large format vertical viewing area. GTI’s luminaires utilize Graphiclite 100 lamps, aluminized high efficiency reflectors, and spectrally neutral non-yellowing diffusers to provide precise and balanced D5000 output. Key features and options include the use of a parabolic lens and geometry design, wireless remote control, LiteGuard II System monitoring to assure proper maintenance, custom sized wall panels, and the flexibility to order as a single source, dual source or custom multi-source fixture. Overprint Press W+D 234d from W+D Machinery Company (Booth 1253) is an industrial grade, high-speed four-color inkjet envelope overprint press, developed specifically for short-run envelope overprint applications. It prints up to 30,000 #10 envelopes per hour at 600x600 dpi with four grey levels. With its precise high speed paper transport and Hi-Def water-based inkjet inks, offset competitive work can be produced on the industry standard of 24 pound white wove paper stock. The multi-format high-performance rotary feeder design supports a wide range of mail products. It’s multi-feeder size range from 3.2x4.5" to 10x13", and easily handles papers from 16 to 90 pounds bond basis weight. The rotary feeder accepts up to 2,000 envelopes and is reloaded on the fly or can be also fed with a high-volume (5,000 and larger autoloader). Online Document Editor CHILI Publisher (Booth 441) is a professional level, online document editing solution that integrates with a range of workflows and production platforms. It offers over 150 editing, layout, and design tools that can be used with a variety of document formats. In addition to utilizing the creation and editing tools, job collaborators can review jobs using CHILI Publisher’s interactive, folding simulation and 360° 3D viewing, within any application environment. Preflighting and Troubleshooting Software The new features in EFI’s (Booth 1902) Fiery Graphic Arts Package, Premium Edition deliver more efficient raster image troubleshooting and global color control, as well as enable more consistent print production. New features include: • Tabular Curve Edit allows the user to manipulate color curves numerically with pre-populated control point sets, or using custom manipulation. Users may also import curves from software such as IDEAlliance Curve2. • Users can create custom color curves, save them as presets, and apply them to a single page, a specific range of pages, or the entire job. • Simplified soft proof provides a set of options to create a soft proof. • A WYSIWYG interface allows users to design custom control bars. Each custom control bar can be used across all media sizes. Users can upload a custom-created control bar, or customize the control bar based on predefined options.
