Graphic Communications Industry Joins Forces at GRAPH EXPO 15 on Education Main Street to Close Workforce Skills Gap At the annual SkillsUSA National “GAERF is committed to supporting programs that prepare our future workforce. NPES 2015 Annual Conference and PRIMIR Fall Meeting FUTURE PRINT: Champions of Change October 2628, 2015 Four Seasons Palm Beach, Florida www.npes.org Championships, held this year from June 22–26 in Louisville, KY, graphic communications students from across the United States competed in a contest that replicated a fully functioning printing company to include offset presses, digital presses, a Mac lab, folding and cutting equipment, and an interview area. This was all made possible by a dedicated group of volunteers, and the generosity of Xerox (Booth 613), RR Donnelley, RICOH (Booth 1231), Quad/Graphics, Printing Industries of America (Booth 3802), Print Craft Supply, Heidelberg USA, GAERF (Booth 569), and Baumfolder (Booth 4061), who donated the use of staff and equipment. For the first time ever, Education Main Street at GRAPH EXPO 15 is showcasing, in Booth 570 — The Hiring Hub: Closing the Skills Gap, a recreation of the championship challenge and supporting teamwork required by our industry to ensure a quality future workforce. Here, show visitors get a firsthand look at this unique display and interact with representatives from companies who have discovered a key to reaching skilled potential hires. “We’re thrilled to be joining SkillsUSA and other print professionals on Education Main Street at this year’s GRAPH EXPO where we’ll celebrate the value of print and interact with the future minds of the industry. InfoTrends — A Strong Presence At GRAPH EXPO 15 In addition to its annual invitation-only breakfast Monday, September 14, focused on critical industry trends, InfoTrends is hosting five sessions at GRAPH EXPO, covering topics from inplants to marketing services. On Sunday, from 4:00-5:30 pm, InfoTrends is offering “Only the Best In-plants will Survive – The Secrets of Leading In-plants,” which will dive into detail about the most recent results of the consultancy’s Benchmarking Study on In-Plant Leaders. Howie Fenton, Associate Director of Operations Consulting, reveals how leading inplants use new and old strategies to prove—and improve—their value. It is being held in Room S404BC McCormick Place South. Monday’s events begin at 7:00 am with registration and a Continental breakfast. The session dives into the latest developments in inkjet and the opportunities for your business. Monday’s sessions continue with Info- Trends Director Kate Dunn presenting, “Marketing Services: The Next BIG Thing,” from 2:00-3:00 pm, Room S403B McCormick Place South. Learn about “the next big thing” in marketing services and how to capitalize on the technology to grow your business. The day’s last session, from 4:00-5:30 pm, Room S403B McCormick Place South, is “Emerging Technology: Laggard OR Leader – How do YOU Measure Up?” Presented by Howie Fenton, the session addresses how companies can improve their overall performance.
