The new ValueJet 1628X and 628X printers use Mutoh’s Eco-Ultra eco-solvent inks to print in CMYK plus white, as well as metallic colors. Available in 64" and 24" configurations, the latest rollfed printers are well-suited for label, vehicle wrap, and signage applications. Mutoh will also be demonstrating its new ValueJet 426UF UV LED tabletop printer. Mutoh is also teaming up with Fresh Artists to offer one-of-a-kind artwork from young artists. Because of sponsors like Mutoh America, nonprofit Fresh Artists is able to empower children (K-12) by widely exhibiting children’s artwork in highly visible places and by providing art supplies and programs to severely under resourced public schools. The Inkjet Candy Store is a dynamic GRAPH EXPO 15 show floor pavilion dedicated to showcasing a cross section the latest wide format printers. It provides a good first stop for visitors to take notes and plan which manufacturers, models, and/ or applications to follow up on and which exhibitors to visit. The John P. Pow Company and the MGI JETvarnish 3D Help Publishers Sell Books Three years ago, the John P. Pow Company and MGI Digital Graphic Technology (Booth 3013) joined forces to help expand digital finishing options for the book publishing industry. Since then, JP Pow has been building and growing the range of its publishing services portfolio with the MGI JETvarnish 3D Digital Finishing Solution. For over 70 years, the John P. Pow Co. has been providing expert lithography & print finishing services to some of the world’s finest publishers. MGI’s JETvarnish 3D “Our original investment was designed to provide our clients with the highest quality standards and most flexible design options possible,” says Mark Finneran, JP Pow’s President. “Prior to working with MGI, we outsourced our Spot UV work. Now, by bringing the JETvarnish 3D in-house, we can manage our costs and production schedules more effectively. For the last three years, the machine has been in continual production mode, at times going two shifts non-stop.” “MGI’s technology helped launch us towards the digital future,” adds Finneran. “We’ve expanded our trade service business and experienced successful growth in ‘touch-centric’ markets like children’s books.” “We’re honored to help contribute to the creative skillcraft of such a respected firm as JP Pow. For three generations they have helped publishers produce great books that get noticed, purchased, and read,” says Kevin Abergel, MGI Vice President of Marketing & Sales. MGI’s JETvarnish 3D product supports production printing applications to produce eye-catching, luxurious-feeling 3D foil and embossed textured effects. The JETvarnish 3D streamlines spot UV coating, embossed tactile coating, and foiling through a fully digital process that requires no screens or dies and no minimum runs. MGI’s creative enhancement options help graphic artists and printers utilize their craft experience to offer dynamic new digital designs, features, and formats. The Industrial Internet Pand Production Mail itney Bowes (Booth 1239) is leveraging a combination of physical and digital technologies to transform businesses, which include mailing and shipping, global ecommerce, and location intelligence. Many companies are looking at the Internet of Things and how to transform businesses by integrating and harnessing physical and digital technologies. Retailers, for example, have high profile success as they blend their physical stores with online shopping, e-commerce, and better shipping experiences. When it comes to industrial businesses, the opportunity exists to leverage machine to-machine and Internet of Things technologies and extract and analyze data from industrial machines to drive better business outcomes. The business benefits include lower cost of operations, greater productivity and output, and higher service levels. At Pitney Bowes, its 95 years of mailing experience is a resource for Fortune 500 companies as they send invoices, statements, and direct mail to their customers who seem allergic to turning off paper delivery. Only 18% of consumers have opted to have their financial statements sent to them digitally, the rest prefer – insist upon – paper. That said, the mailing industry is ready for change. In April, at the National Postal Forum, USPS Postmaster General Megan Brennan said, “The convergence of mail and digital experiences is a way of adding strength to strength. The potential is enormous for this industry, because it will create a daily bridge from your mailed content to your digital ecosystem.” With Pitney Bowes’ integration of GE Predix, the company is adding an Industrial Internet-grade layer of analytics and business solutions to its production mail business. This will improve machine, operator, and mail factory productivity, reduce downtime, increase service levels, reduce costs of operations, and optimize capacity management and job scheduling across client assets. Its clients are quite enthusiastic to be able to save on its bottom line and grow their top lines with this new level of analytics that will help them optimize operations. The GE Predix platform is specifically designed for the Industrial Internet, which means that its software solutions, data, analytics, processing speeds, and scale are particularly suited to solve global, industrial size business challenges. Pitney Bowes’ and GE Predix’s development work together to date shows great promise as they combine physical and digital technologies to produce fantastic business outcomes for its clients. If the mail industry is ready for the Internet of Things, imagine how you can transform your business by blending the physical and digital worlds. SmartSoft Showcases SEnhancements to PressWise martSoft (Booth 539) is showing the latest enhancements to PressWise, the shop management software designed to help printers grow their business while eliminating touches from their workflow, through an all-in-one, cloud-based MIS and print automation platform. PressWise includes Web-to-print Storefronts, Estimating, Order Management, Production Automation, Shipping and Fulfillment, and Mail Processing. Improvements to the print estimating, web storefronts, job editor, and production management tools, as well as enhanced support for third third-party APIs are just a few of the features they will be demonstrating. They company is also showing some of the recent user experience enhancements designed to make the system even easier and faster to use. The User Interface has been improved for greater ease of use, including a new customized user account widget and more functional footer that provides easier access to frequently used features within the system. Formatting has been improved across documents including purchase orders, job tickets, invoices, and quotes. Storefront improvements include new support for cash and check payments, additional data import/export options for storefront templates, catalogs and categories, as well as inventory summaries. “We are constantly looking for ways to improve PressWise and our enhancements are a combination of user requests and innovations from our talented product development team,” says Tony Tarpey, Executive Vice President at SmartSoft. “The GRAPH EXPO 15 show floor is a very dynamic environment, where we get to meet customers new and old, hear about their unique workflow challenges, and show them how the PressWise product and team can help them overcome those challenges in a collaborative way.” There will also be additional surprises in store for GRAPH EXPO 15 attendees, with new features that will be announced at the show. 10 September 15, 2015 | GRAPH EXPO Official Show Daily | PrintingNews.com
