NEW PRODUCTS Cutting Machine Automation Scissorhands from Opensoft (Booth 225) adds artificial intelligence to guillotine cutters. It has two hardware components: a large touchscreen (mounted on the face of the cutter) and a small, model-specific connector between the touchscreen and the cutter. The touchscreen connects to the main software component: the cloudbased Scissorhands AI. The Scissorhands AI generates a new cut program for each specific run, based on that run’s prepress JDF data, sheet count, substrate coatings, and packaging intent. Scissorhands loads the customized cut programs directly into the cutter. It uses the cutter’s existing hardware by intercepting and injecting signals, rather than replacing motors or relying on manufacturer integration. Scissorhands also handles data collection and reporting. It tracks the operator’s jobs, start time, end time, and blade drops. This data is then accessible by MIS systems or other reporting systems for tight integration or analysis. Browser-Based MIS EFI (Booth 1902) PrintSmith Vision is designed to help a printing business thrive. The latest release of PrintSmith Vision, version 3, focuses on winning more jobs and managing them more efficiently. Digital Envelope Print System Visit Xante (Booth 431) to see the Impressia Digital Multi-Media Press and Enterprise SL Feed System in action. The Impressia with the Enterprise SL Feeder creates a digital envelope print system. The Impressia features rapid print speeds (up to 78 full color envelopes per minute) and crisp color quality (up to 2400 dpi). This multi-media press prints on a variety of stocks including coated, uncoated, NCR, textured stocks, labels, and more. With the Enterprise SL Feeder, users can maximize their space by placing the Impressia Digital Print System with the shortened Enterprise SL Feeder on any open table top or desk space. The Impressia is driven by the iQueue Prepress Workflow that automates and simplifies numerous prepress tasks including imposition/tiling, Right On Spot Color Matching, independent CMYK density adjustment, variable data with Intelligent Mail barcodes, and sequential numbering. iQueue also features a universal print driver that allows users to connect to any Adobe PostScript printer in the network. Customer View Software EPMS (Booth 257) has introduced a new browser based web portal that is an extension of the CRM Module called Customer View web portal. Printing company clients will be able to log into a unique website where they can see estimates, orders invoices, and RFQ’s that are specific to their business. Along with that, they will be able to see a quick overview of order status in the form of a production progress bar. They will also have the ability to manage and update their particular company/ contact information details, which will subsequently update the information in the CRM module itself. Written communication between the customer and the printing company has been enabled via a time and date stamped web notes. Customer View also allows the creation of new RFQ’s via the RFQ module as well as the ability to order and manage finished goods inventory, via the web Finished Goods module. In addition, an online proofing function has been incorporated, which will permit the customer to electronically authorize and sign off on a proof. Smart Sheet Processing In Booth 831, Standard is introducing the Horizon SmartSlitter, an all-in-one smart sheet processing system that can slit, gutter cut, edge trim, cross-cut, perforate, and crease all in one pass. Perforation and creasing can be performed in both horizontal and vertical directions in the same pass. Skip perforation feature can produce T- and L-perfs. For accordion fold applications, or perfect bound books, up and down creasing can also be performed in one pass. Standard size business cards can be printed 21-up on a sheet and processed to a receding stacker for easy handling. Print mark registration adjusts for digital print image shift from sheet to sheet. And, the color touchscreen features a simple user interface for easy operation including job setup via barcode. The system accepts sheets up to 14.56x26.37" and can deliver finished sheets just under 2x2". It prints at 1200x4800dpi with VCSEL image quality on a range of media including tree-based, synthetics and envelopes. It features an AC-transfer system and elastic fusing belt technology to enhance output on heavily textured media. Its image feedback system provides real-time feedback and correction of engine calibration. Multivariable Pin Folder The fully-automatic, multivariable pintype folder FoldLine from manroland web systems (Booth 1267) is the optimal finishing tool for newspaper production in digital production environments. It provides the possibility to produce broadsheet and tabloid newspapers in long-grain and short-grain format with different structures, and thus ensures maximum utilization of the advantages of digital printing for newspaper and commercial printing.
