NEW PRODUCTS Miyakoshi to supply the un-wind and rewind devices. Gloss and matte papers as well as synthetic, polypropylene, polyester, and BOPP substrates are supported, giving the user a variety of applications and markets they can support. The digital front end (DFE) driving the C71cf is Konica Minolta’s embedded controller. Variable data printing is supported and both the PPML and PDF/VT formats are included (PDF/VT requires an available APPE option). Synthetic Digital Substrates Revlar vibrant colors from Relyco (Booth 1955) are laser/digital printer/press-compatible synthetic papers that are waterproof, tear-proof, heat, grease, and chemical resistant. Sized 8.5x11" and 12x18" 5 mil sheets are available in six vibrant colors: fiery red, spring green, majestic blue, brilliant yellow, blazing orange, and desert sand, in 100- and 500-sheet cases. Solvent Printer Epson’s (Booth 841) SureColor S70675 is built to produce photographic signage output at high every day production speeds up to 190 sqft/hr. It leverages the Epson UltraChrome GSX ink set with newly formulated Cyan and Light Cyan inks, and an all-new Orange Plus ink to extend the color gamut up to 3% more than its predecessor. The UltraChrome GSX ink set features an optional Metallic Silver ink and high density White ink technology. The S70675 prints at a maximum resolution of 1440x1440 dpi for incredibly sharp text and line art, and offers variable-sized droplet technology as small as 4.2 picoliters for extreme print image quality. An efficient take-up reel for unattended production of large print runs supports wind-in and wind-out. The printer supports standard heavy roll support for up to 90 pounds with motorized take-in and an optional high-capacity roll support for rolls up to 150 pounds. InkJet Web Press HP (Booth 1202) is showcasing the T1100 Simplex Color InkJet Web Press, a high speed, high volume, 110"-wide (2.8 meter) simplex inkjet web press for pre-printing of corrugated top liner. Planned to print at speeds of up to 600 feet per minute and produce up to 300,000 square feet per hour, the press will print corrugated liner rolls that can be placed directly onto existing industry-standard 110"-wide corrugators. It is the first solution co-developed by HP and KBA (Booth 213) since the announcement of their collaboration at GRAPH EXPO 14. In-Line Toner-Based Hot Foiling Solution MGI (Booth 3013) is demonstrating the iFOIL T (T = Toner) in production mode with the MGI Meteor 8700S+. The product is a 100% digital in-line hot foiling solution that integrates with the MGI Meteor DP series of production digital presses. The iFOIL T allows variable data personalization with up to 4 separate programmable foil stamping areas in many attractive design styles (Colors, Reflective, Metallic, Glitter, Holographic). Multiple rolls can be used in a single pass for variations in color and texture. Rotary Die Cutter The Insignia Series from Rollem (Booth 425) is a new class of sheetfed rotary die cutter, ideal for producing labels, packaging, and unique mail applications. The machine is capable of die-cutting, kiss-cutting, perforating, scoring, and cut-scoring on a range of papers, plastics, magnetic material, PVC, styrene, and polypropylenes up to 24 pt. in thickness. Key features include run speeds up to 5,000 sph, ease of operation, and quick changeover. Insignia is available in two sizes. Insignia5 handles digital sheet sizes of 20x15" and Insignia7 handles B2 size 24x30" sheets. In addition, the customer is offered the option of two delivery systems; a high capacity receding stacker for flat sheet delivery, or a waste stripping unit to deliver finished products. A folder gluer unit provides printed sheet to folded-glued box production with zero touch points and a single operator. In-Line Punching & Perforating Module Standard Finishing (Booth 831) is running the new Hunkeler DP8 Dynamic Punch and Perforation Module as part of a Roll-to-Booklet solution processing pre-printed rolls into finished booklets with dynamic perforations throughout. The DP8 adds dynamic perforation and punching patterns that can vary from sheet to sheet. At processing speeds up to 720 fpm, this module keeps pace with the new inkjet generation for operation in-line with the print engine or offline. The system can perform multiple cross perforations, length perforations, punching, and die cutting in a single process, and can support up to three cross perforation units and eight vertical perforations on one sheet. A touchscreen editing tool allows fast and easy setups. The system offers customizable, independent processing of two web lanes in 2-up production for highly variable jobs, and supports job storage and automatic retrieval of the proper perforation and punching patterns. Digital Enhancement The Scodix (Booth 2231) vision is all about ensuring that printed products are truly memorable. With the introduction of the Scodix Digital In-Line Foil engine, Scodix has once again raised the bar for digital enhancement. An additional module that runs in line with the Scodix Ultra Pro Digital Press, Scodix Foil digitally creates a brilliant foil effect with no waste or mess. It uses conventional foils to produce a wide range of colors such as gold, silver, bronze, and more. The automatic polymer switching system means that customers can switch between the specially formulated FOIL, SPOT, and other Scodix SENSE enhancements with no fuss. Latex Printer HP (Booth 1202) is showcasing the new 126" HP Latex 3500 Printer. With heavy-duty roll handling up to 660 pounds and 10 liter ink supplies, the printer enables more unattended operation, such as overnight printing. Additionally, dual-roll split spindles offer easier, safer handling of oversized rolls; in-line slitters reduce bottlenecks in finishing; and built-in LED lights support on-the-fly proofing. The printer is compatible with the HP Latex Mobile application, helping PSPs increase unattended operations with remote monitoring and print status alerts. The new HP Latex 3500 Printer is also JDF-enabled. Automated Commercial Print Workflows The EFI (Booth 1902) Monarch Print MIS/ERP solution provides a foundation for the end-to-end management and optimization of the office and the shop floor. With direct integration to Kodak PRINERGY Prepress, businesses can move production-critical information quickly from the order processing and planning phase to production. The Monarch Planner automation works with PRINERGY to take over prepress management. Planner is able to receive content details, insert them into the imposition, provide a visual review with content in place, and build a plate-ready PDF in the correct format. This plate-ready PDF includes marks such as trim, registration, color bars, and plate IDs, all aligned to the layout. Using JDF technology, the content position, geometry, and PDF are communicated to PRINERGY, which creates an imposition plan on the spot. Estimating Tool arifiQ (Booth 3864) is launching an instant print quotation tool with its Adobe InDesign plug-in. This Adobe InDesign plug-in provides instant quotes for design projects including custom print sizes. It also supports order entry and can attach the file with the order. The plug-in scans the document and automatically interprets the information and translates it to a request for a quote. The arifiQ plug-in script sends and receives information from the server and the prices are calculated, updated and presented in real time. Printers that implement arifiQ Core get their own unique plug-in script, which they can distribute to their customers.
