GPA Announces Product Information GVideo Series PA (Booth 3822) is introducing its new series of technical product videos. The first video features Greg Kestler, GPA’s Director of Technical Products, who reviews the advantages and profitable uses for Styrene in a short, user-friendly manner that makes it relatable for individuals from all levels of the graphic arts and printing industries. Subsequent videos will follow a similar format, and will help educate viewers about the different substrates available to them. They will also illustrate how GPA’s customers can confidently use GPA’s substrates to create profitable applications in a variety of markets. In the first video, Kestler educates viewers about the features of this “workhorse” synthetic substrate. He addresses Styrene’s advantages and limitations while showcasing real-life examples and sharing tips for creating successful applications. GPA offers Styrene for sheetfed offset and HP Indigo presses in gauges ranging from 10 through 30 mil. It is available in a variety of opacities, from translucent for uses such as illuminated signage to double opaque for graphics that call for no show-through. MoxyOx Outgrows Their Homegrown MIS Moxy Ox, a print and “Before PressWise, it took at least 10 minutes to generate a quote, which then had to be recovered later by scanning outgoing emails,” says Huber. “Now a CSR can get a quote to someone while on the phone in under a minute. The auto-impositioning saves press operators hours of time, and the fully integrated shipping module means that there is no rekeying of data. Profits are up, customer satisfaction is up, people love our new proofing system, and our prepress turn time is half or less.” The best part about the new MIS is having a single, centralized system with a view into the business that was hidden before. Armed with insight into the health of their business, they immediately starting to make some changes. “I have been able to adjust product pricing on items that we now know had ridiculously low margins,” says Huber. “We can now focus on tracking what products are and aren’t moving.” A significant part of MoxyOx’s success with PressWise was down to their due diligence process. Too often major new technology purchases can wreak havoc internally, causing long delays or even the abandonment of the project. Even and after your system is up and running, you have to wonder–how well will it fit with your business? Will your workers use it or oppose it? MoxyOx did their due diligence beforehand to ensure they were not left with an expensive loss. “For me it’s all about the user interface, ease of setup, time savings, and the customer experience,” says Huber. “Before purchasing, we contacted several companies that were already using PressWise and heard the same thing over and over. Well, my goal is to use every last bit of its options. I love it.” YOU ARE THE CONSERVERS OF COST THE SEEKERS OF SUSTAINABILITY © Kodak, 2015. TM: Kodak, NexPress. design company based in Tontitown, AZ, built its business around three core principles: service, quality, and execution. These principles have helped them attract a diverse and solid customer base that includes the likes of Walmart, Vimeo, and Simmons. Much of their business comes from business cards and custom-sized products. They offer specialty double and triple-thick stocks, including soft-touch double thick options. With so much of their business being custom however, MoxyOx identified a problem. Its homegrown ‘MIS’ just wasn’t cutting it. They were using a combination of a free online project management tool, and a homemade pricing system which meant they spent hours manually typing all their estimates and emailing them to clients. This also meant they had no customer tracking, no central data repository for job history, and little knowledge of profit and loss margins for each type of job that they were running. After reviewing a number of MIS systems, they settled on PressWise from SmartSoft (Booth 539). Although most comparable systems offered similar functionality, they felt that PressWise was the most intuitively designed and easiest to use. Plus, according to Matt Huber, Head of Operations for MoxyOx, getting started was a snap. “We implemented in just over a month. Technical support and the pre-existing training structure is second to none. Also, we have an Indigo 5500 so it was super easy to set up!” The impact on their business has been significant, saving labor and eliminating touches throughout their workflow, from quoting to production to shipping.
