Presstek Showcasing Eco-Friendly Printing Solutions Visitors to the Presstek booth (2640) are experiencing live chemistry-free demonstrations in three areas of the booth: ultra-high quality and fast turnaround printing on the Presstek 52DI digital offset press, streamlined metal platemaking on the Vector FL52 thermal CTP system, and inkjet CTP with the JT Direct Inkjet Plate. At the show, Presstek is introducing the all new GemPlate, an exciting new 100% chemistry free “develop on press” thermal printing plate. The open platform GemPlate images on industry-standard 830 nm thermal platesetters. Once imaged, GemPlate can be mounted directly on press where fountain solution and ink remove the plate’s unexposed areas, leaving the polymerized, hardened, exposed ink-receptive image areas unaffected. Currently in the final phases of development and testing, the plate offers excellent on-press performance. Show attendees are encouraged to preview the plate and speak to a representative about beta opportunities The Presstek 52DI is a 52cm landscape 4-color press that images media directly on press in precise register going from digital file to printed sheet in under 10 minutes. Achieving speeds at 10,000 full size sheets per hour, DI presses are compact, easy to operate and maintain, and are engineered for optimal profitability on press runs between 500 – 20,000 impressions. A range of format sizes are available and offered new or remanufactured with its Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program. The CPO program offers savings up to 50% compared to new and includes installation, delivery, start-up kit and a one year new press warranty. The Vector FL52 is a compact, two-page thermal platemaking system featuring an integrated automatic water wash for Presstek’s chemistry-free Freedom Pro metal plates. Sharp, high quality imaging is achieved with Presstek SureFire FL imaging technology and provides screen rulings up to 175 lpi. These turnkey systems include the latest RIP software, new RIP computer, plate punch, installation, training, a box of plates, and a full one year warranty. The Presstek JT Direct Inkjet Plate combines with Epson inkjet printers, providing a simple, low-cost plate production solution. The JT metal plate images on a standard Epson inkjet printer using the printer’s standard inks. Serving as a multi-function all-in-one CTP system, users can image plates, print proofs, posters, and more, easily switching from one print application to another without any modifications or changing of inks. Small format plates on up to a 44" plate can be imaged on these highly affordable bundled systems that include the inkjet printer, RIP software, oven, and start-up kit. NPES 2015 Annual Conference and PRIMIR Fall Meeting FUTURE PRINT: Champions of Change October 2628, 2015 Four Seasons Palm Beach, Florida www.npes.org for their sheetfed press application. The State, the Opportunity, and the Future of the TGlobalPrintMediaChannel here is a world of opportunity for manufacturers, distributors, dealers, and printers according to the GlobalPrintMediaChannel Forum at GRAPH EXPO 15. Danny Moloney, Channel Ambassador for the GlobalPrintMediaChannel (Booth 3661), says the future for many manufacturers and distributors lies in expanding their markets worldwide. Moderator Dennis Mason, Mason Consulting, opened the session on how manufacturers are interacting with the print industry. Customers are getting more information now from the Internet and researching products and services before they buy since how information is being shared has dramatically been impacted by new technology. “The print industry is now a worldwide market, but it still has to be individualized to the different countries and cultures,” said Mason. “The printer will now have choices from other countries and will have to understand the manufacturer’s culture. The reality is that print manufacturing is worldwide.” New technology is making it easy for manufacturers to deliver support to their dealers and end users. They now have the ability to support customers directly through the Internet. It is possible to deliver repair support to customers without on-site repair people. Manufacturers must be global if they expect to expand their markets, said Moloney. This means they need to visit the countries they target and learn the culture and the needs. Several manufacturers shared the stage to describe their experiences in moving Dennis Mason into new markets. Roberto Magliulo, CEO, CtpOptotec, outlined his plans to take his print technology business global. His company’s ability to provide product level support to the dealer by remote makes penetrating global markets easier. Poland’s Dominik Szulim, CEO, key2print, discussed the challenges of distributing his web-to-print software globally. Global markets are available to both large and small manufacturers. Steve Allen, Graphic Whizard (Booth 3208), shared how his travels to other countries have resulted in new sales and opportunities. His company now sells products in 40 countries and has developed partnerships with other manufacturers to keep costs down. They now have a 50-50 mix of manufacturing to distribution and offer offline UV coaters from a chance meeting in another marketplace. Cavanaugh Press Selects the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press to BIncrease Production Efficiency altimore, MD-based Cavanaugh Press purchased the B2-format HP (Booth 1202) Indigo 10000 Digital Press at GRAPH EXPO 15 to increase production efficiency and versatility and differentiate itself from competition in the mid-Atlantic region.
